Hi,
I just unboxed and hooked up my Pocket NC for the first time. Fired up AXIS and used manual control to move each axis in continuous mode. All are moving well with the exception of the Z axis. Z axis isn't moving in either direction, stepper motor is making noise (slightly high pitched)  but the threaded spindle isn't turning. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers

And you already engaged the servos with the little Yellow button.. What happened when you did the homing routine?

I meant engage the servos in software. Not the yellow reset button on the machine.

Randy,
Thanks for the response ..

1.Using AXIS to engage the servos individually... all axis work/move except for Z (noise from servo, no physical movement, preview window in AXIS shows Z values changing ).
2.Using Home All button in AXIS gets noise from Z servo, no physical movement, preview window in AXIS shows Z values changing, then a message of "end of move in home state 7".

Cheers
Dave

This is clearly not normal. Sorry. Pocket NC can figure that out. :-)

What was the issue? I just got mine running fresh out of the box and I'm seeing the exact same thing...

Worked it out, one of the ribbon cables came disconnected in shipping. I pushed it back into place and all is well.

I am having troubles with this also. Just got the machine and the Z axis is not moving. Mother is not engaging at all. What are the steps that needs to be checked?

Hi, can you tell me what cable you had to work with. I liked at my machine but it was not obvious and I could not see any connections to reseat.
