I just crashed my PNC V2: tool into the A Table. The steps leading up to it are:

1. I tried to Post an op in Fusion 360 and got an error saying "Tool orientation is not supported for available machine axes."
2. After much Googling and using the search function (Ctrl + F) with "axis", I discovered that the A Table limits in the Machine Configuration in Fusion 360 were still set to the old limits of the PNC V1.
3. I changed the limits in the Machine Configuration text. I only found 1 spot that needed the update.
4. I posted the op and got no error this time, so I thought all was well.
5. I ran the part, and it ran fine for about 80% of the run before it crashed.
6. It crashed when the A table tried to make it's first turn past the old A table negative limit. The spindle had fully retracted, but the X and Y stayed the same, and the edge of the A table rotated vertically into the tool.
7. The simulation in Fusion 360 did not show any collision.
8. I edited the post text and told the machine to go to X2.5 Y2.5 to get the tool out of the way before rotating the A table to the position that previously caused the crash, and it ran the entire op with no problem.
9. My theory: it looks like updating the A table limits in the Machine Configuration "worked" in the sense that it allowed the machine to move up to these new limits. However, it seems like there needs to be something else added to the Machine Configuration to prevent this kind of crash. My work around of adding text to the post to send the machine Home before rotating worked, but something should be added so that the post automatically knows to avoid this kind of collision.

Has this already been addressed and I missed it? If not does anyone know what I need to add to the Machine Configuration in Fusion 360 to make it "smart enough" to take the new A table limits into account?

Thanks!

Wayne

Wayne,

Thank you for pointing this out. I would like to check into it a bit further. Would it be possible for you to share your Fusion file with me (you can send me a private message) so that I can get a better idea about what is going on?

Thanks

Jonathan, I can't figure out how to send you a private message, so I just emailed you. Please let me know if you need me to reach out via another method.

That works. I looked at it briefly, but I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet.
