Planners of Color Interest Group (POCIG)

The Planners of Color Interest Group will provide five travel
scholarships to attend the ACSP Conference in Salt Lake City, UT,
October 13-16, 2011. Each scholarship will be for $250. We are
particularly interested in encouraging young scholars to attend this
conference. Providing an introduction to the planning academy, the
conference is a venue for students to meet other students, planning
faculty, and attend conference activities such as panels, workshops,
business meetings, and receptions. The goal is to make students of
color aware of the importance of planning education/research and why
more planning faculty persons of color are needed. The criteria are
as follows:

• A planning Master’s and Ph.D. student (priority will go to students
presenting at the conference).
• Travelling more than 100 miles to attend the conference.
• A student attending an ACSP member school.


Please complete this application, include a vita, a statement of
research and/or planning career interests (statements should be no
more than 300 words in length). Statements that reflect a particular
interest in communities of color will receive priority.
