Dear ISA Members,
With great sadness I must inform you that Dr. Gunter von Noorden passed away a few hours ago.
He was the past President of ISA during 1986-90 and was the Honorary Member of ISA. Gunter von Noorden was the Mentor of all of us in strabismology. My generation and many others learned strabismus from his book of excellence 'Binocular Vision and Ocular Motility' (co-authored by Emilio Campos) which is still the main source to understand strabismology. I feel myself so lucky to have the opportunity of meeting him personally and having the chance to hear his lectures.
Unfortunately an icon of strabismology left us who was a father name in strabismology all over the world.
I would like to express my condolences to his family and the whole strabismology world.
