  As others indicated, it is a matter of relativity.  ie:, 'Can I work SSB?"

I  think the question should not be "Can I?", but more about effectiveness.
  Since most SSB is horizontal polarization, as are also digital modes; YES  you should be able work SSB for with a phased array.  Will it load up properly  on the frequency you to use?
  You can work SSB on a single mag mounted vertical, but there is a dB penalty for being cross polarized.
   Your phased array should work, but maybe not quite as well as other options. 
    If you can hear them, and then work them....it is working!
