YOU ARE INVITED TO THE W6JKV/K5AND BBQ SEPTEMBER 21-22, 2011, Austin, TX
Please join Jimmy, W6JKV and Dick, K5AND, for another great opportunity to BS about Cycle 24, talk about new dxpeditions, meet hams and their spouses from all over the world who love 6 meters, white noise & EME, hear presentations on really neat stuff and see demos of more really neat stuff. It is also a great chance to meet and learn about the new technologies that are changing our environment from the people involved in making it happen.
This year marks the 23rd time that hams from all over the world and 35 states will gather to eat BBQ and chat each other up. Most importantly, we get most of the hams that are aggressive expeditioners. Sunspots are back, which promises some excitement for our new cycle.
For the past two years, we’ve been doing selected live video conferencing which worked out pretty well, so we will likely have a presentation or two this year as well via this new venue.
We try hard to make this an event that non-hams enjoy, want to attend and one where everyone feels welcome. As in the past, we will try to feature some sort of music on Saturday afternoon.
This year, the event venue is at back at Jimmy and Drew’s (use Google Maps and/or Google Earth to get there).
For those not familiar with Austin, it is the “live music capital of the USA”, featuring blues, rock, folk and country. It is probably second to Silicon Valley in high tech, plus it is hilly and has beautiful lakes. It is slightly hot at times, and we have an outstanding assortment of bats, insects, snakes and other varmints.
The event starts on Friday whenever the first person arrives. A Tex-Mex meal will be served at 1830. The event continues all day Saturday with free hotdogs at noon and the BBQ dinner at 1530. There will be free margaritas, beer, water, soft drinks & popcorn and both days.
MOST IMPORTANT, ANYONE PLANNING TO ATTEND MUST RSVP.
ALSO IMPORTANT IS FOR THE SPOUSES WHO WANT TO GO THE OUTING ON SATURDAY MORNING TO RSVP TO KATHIE (k...@dkhanson.com).
If you’re a vendor planning to show equipment, please coordinate your needs with Dick (di...@dkhanson.com). And finally, if you would like to make a PowerPoint presentation, again, please coordinate with Dick.
The Mexican meal will be $10 per, and the BBQ will be $20 per. The hot dogs, margaritas, soft drinks, beer, popcorn etc are FREE. It doesn’t matter which of us you send your checks to, but please make them out to one or the other, not both.
We need your email commitment by Sept 1, (please, we can’t do this right without your help, so help us help you thru timely communications.)
