All,

This Winter has been way too long, and idle hands and minds have run amuck planning for the Spring.

In the midst of the Winter Chaos, an idea was put forward (among the folks on Pingjockey, N1RJX, N9HF, W9JJ and many others) to create a resource to promote 222 MHz - and to identify the stations currently active on that band.  This idea was further refined to develop an interactive spreadsheet to allow for self posting of station capabilities, band interest, location, contact info and the like.

Through the wizardry of W0UC (who has been making similar spreadsheets for recent VHF Contest activity and station promotion in the upper Midwest), we now have a Shared Google spreadsheet for all to enjoy.

Anyone can add their capabilities to the list - or you can add data for friends.  There are also band tabs for the higher bands at the bottom.   The sheet will default to 222 if you use the http://tinyurl.com/222-and-above-VHF-LIST link, though the URL posted atop the sheet will allow you to create bookmarks to whatever band(s) are of interest you.

We need to self police here folks.  Please everyone help us to make this the best resource possible!

Thanks in advance and 73,

Bart W9JJ/1

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, Charles.  The sheets are whatever we want to make of them for best utility.

It sounds like a narrow column could be used for the single character notations you suggest.

Making an executive decision here, I am going to rename the "TROPO" column (as it seems all have selected it and it is a no brain'er) to "STATUS".  Then single letter codes as you suggest and future plausible ones may be added (C = Contest Only;  U = Under Construction; O = Operational; R = Rover...).  Not sure "O" has merit, as one is either O or U, but I guess we can float that choice as well.

The sheets are populating nicely!   Populate accurate data for your friends as well!

Keep the listings and ideas coming.

I tried to do something similar on the SVHFS Yahoo website in the Files folder. But W0UC's is so much better. We'll just refer everyone to this new one.  Good job.

I would offer up one suggestion to improve it information wise. Instead of just placing an "X" in the box under EME or WSJT or Meteor scatter, code what state of operational you are. If you can only do 5760 as a rover, put an "R" in the box. If fully operational maybe use "O".

Or if like many of us you are just collecting parts, put a "U" for under construction. Maybe an "S" for on the Shelf. Seems like a lot of microwave stations are only on for the contests. That's what I mean by "on the Shelf". On some of the bands its a lot harder to answer than simply a yes / no thing.

Here is what we did in the Alaska VHF-Up Group:
http://www.qsl.net/ak-vhf/AVGMembership.htm
X= operational
FM= FM only
RO= Rover
U= under construction
P= planned (stuff on the shelf or waiting on checkbook)
B= beacon

I like that you have separate columns for eme, ms, tropo, rover, but Charles suggestion for expansion of the tropo column will provide even better info if you are looking for a station in an area or mode.

Only problem with our list is it is not interactive; I have to make the changes as webmaster.

Thanks for the feedback, Ed.  Seems we are mostly there, shy perhaps of the "FM only" option.

As this is a tool anticipated for use in setting up schedules for what would generally be long haul EME or MS (or tropo by default), it seems "Planning" serves little purpose for now.  Either you are Operational or Under Construction (maybe "Under Construction" is planning).

Anyone on FM is (shy of openings) limited in distance -- not a good Nationwide or Worldwide EME or MS prospect.  Those with FM Only limitations are welcome to list themselves, though I'd suggest for now they describe their ability in the comments (column N).

The left placed columns I think were intended to hopefully serve an "AT A GLANCE" purpose -- the more busy the details are at the left and the more columns, the farther we need to scroll to the right to see other data like station capabilities, email address, phone and the like.  At a glance, anyone with no check boxes completed would seem to motivate a reviewer to scroll to the right to see what gives.

Keep the thoughts coming...

Bart,

Looks real good.  But why is it referred to as 222 and up, it does have a 144 section…

Thanks it is nice
