222 and above Conrtest

I plan to be on for a bit tomorrow for the Contest. Just 223.5 & 70cM. May experiment with FT8 on 432.065. I see the program does not use the 6-digit for this Contest. However, one can edit Tx5 for the grid info. May get a bounce off the planes coming into SEA-TAC. Back when I was on 2M AM, I could hear the enhanced signals from across town from planes coming into PDX. FlightAware does plot planes flying in the PNW. I oft times see planes coming from the south at altitude and change course to SEA-TAC roughly following I-5.

Not expecting a lot of stations on, so doing some experimenting may prove useful.

This may help:

 

In the past many of us have used EU VHF contest mode which uses 6 digit grid info.  The extra bit is just ignored.  You still get the Contest log like normal VHF contest option.

 

432.174 is commonly used for FT8, at least in Puget Sound area for many years now.
