Folks,

Just for grins I am going to set up for 1296 in the September contest.  IC-9700, 40 element looper, mast mounted preamp looking SE to W.  If anyone else would like to play, please let me know.  If your only answer for not getting on is "I don't have an antenna" and you are within driving distance of Sandpoint I have another 40 element looper I can loan you.  I usually run them in a horizontal stack but if there is no one with whom to talk, I rather have another station on the air than an extra 3dB with which to talk to myself!  I was planning to take all of this plus a 160 watt PQL amp up to  the Lunchbox Peak Fire Lookout (6,000+ feet) but the Lightning Creek fire is kind of between me and the lookout.  Darn!

Any interest?

I am considering a weekend on Lion Rock north of Ellensburg like last year. Bands up to 10G.  Maybe have a shot your direction.

I'm up for some 1296 Mhz DX.  Just let me know.
I have a 55 looper Directive Systems antenna (10 ft long)  pointed at Mt Rainier that reliably connects with CN87 ops and others.
I can see the top of Mt Rainier from my CN85 location, and I also see Mt St Helens as well as all of Mt Adams, which is a massive volcano 12K ft high.  That should be good for long distance refraction to the East.   I've had some interesting long distance chats on 1296 Tropo and scatter.  I was able to work KB7W in CN93 reliably and rag chew using my coffee can antenna on one of the QSOs with him.  I also had a nice chat with someone in DN06 many years ago.
