Among my collection of "stuff", I have two old 6M Halo antennas,
probably from the 1960's. They seem to both be made by the same company,
Hi-Par, since the hardware and mounts are nearly identical.
For all the years I have had these antennas, I have
been unable to find much information on-line, but Dan K7SMA
found a web site with a picture!
Now I am a bit confused. I thought the 4-ring antenna that I have,
was the Saturn "6". I do have a copy of a "Hi-Par Saturn '6' Mobileer
Antenna" manual, but unfortunately there is no description or picture to verify
just which model is the Saturn 6.
My 4-ring version uses three different diameters of tubing;
with one being 5/8", one 3/8", and two are 1/2" OD. It has round
end plates, instead of the triangular ones shown on the web site for the 3-ring
version, but the other mounting hardware and fabrication is identical to the
3-ring unit, albeit with an extra groove in the clamp bracket for the fourth
loop.
Which ever version is the 'real' Saturn '6' (and I think it is
probably the 3-ring version); I now wonder what the 'other'
version was called.
Any input???
