Well, rather quiet down here in northern
California. Admit that I did NOT turn the antenna to the south but did not hear
any of the regulars off the back or side.
Had a very high noise level--s/8--at the start and
it did not disappear until after dark. Had K6NGN on Mt Shasta, WB6FFC and
his 100watts and lops, altho later when conditions were better and he was up in
power and antenna, he was 40 over 9 on ssb !!!!!!!! Copied KB7ME
quiet nice on ssb at 0356 but then lost him. Guess he did not hear
me. Got a couple of semi locals then finally got to K6WTG in Yreka--CN81qr
and he built to a nice 5/8 on ssb. Meantime WB6FFC was 5/7 off the back of
his antenna and I was hearing about four or five cw stations and a couple of ssb
stations on 144.200. These were all to the north but I could not get any calls
and I guess none of them heard me on cw. oh well !!Later at 0450 I picked
up KO6HS in Redding CA for a nice Q. Helps to get antennas in the right
direction. Then last but not least got Bruce--KI7JA--on cw from
Portland. Signals a bit down but nice on cw. Thanks Bruce !!
Thus had seven Qs in five grids for four hours work. FUN tho, and was much
enjoyed. Sure wish I knew who the cw and ssb staions were earlier in the
game.
Thanks to all up north, stay warm and
dry.
