Hi All

I bought a portable Wi-Fi rotator controller ( http://www.af6sa.com/projects/WiFi_Rotor.html ) last year and installed in my RCA VH-226e rotor for SUV-supported portable use from parking lots.  It works great; I can control the rotator heading from my smartphone in the SUV.

However, in the September/Oct 432 MHz sprint I discovered the rotator can't handle the lateral forces of a 26-element Yagi when tilting over.  The aluminum housing is completely broken.

I can't seem to find any in-stock lightweight RCA/Radio Shack/HyGain antenna rotators compatible with the PWRC.  Does anyone have one locally they are willing to sell me?

Peter, K3OG in Sammamish/Redmond.

Web search indicates that:

"The PWRC (Portable Wi-Fi Rotor Controller) by AF6SA is a versatile controller compatible with many popular rotors like Yaesu (G-400, G-800DXA, G-1000DXA), Hy-Gain/Telex (HAM-IV, T2X), Channel Master, RadioShack, and RCA (VH226E)”

Very cool project.

Problem is, most of those rotors are pretty expensive that have the lateral stability.  You can find on eBay but they are $400-500.

Might need to think about creating some sort of mast collar with an bearing to absorb the lateral forces, like on some of the rotating tubular towers.
