In 2025, MicroHAMS offered a series of short presentations at the Mike and Key hamfest, covering such wide ranging subjects as kit building, Radio Direction Finding, APRS, and GNU Radio.

It was so well received, the hamfest organizers asked MicroHAMS to put on the presentation offering again in 2026.   This year I wanted to try to widen the scope of offerings and groups making presentations so I'm sending out details and asking interested persons (or groups) to contact me and share what they could offer as a short presentation.

The general guidance for topic and detail is to show an area of the hobby that people might not be well exposed to, and why they might have an interest in exploring that area, tool, or idea.

The format is slightly changed this year based on feedback from last year:

There will be slightly longer slots this year, at 20 minutes (top of the hour, 20 after, and 40 after) with a 15 minute program (12 minutes of program and 3 minutes of questions, adjusted as the presenter sees fit) with 2-3 minutes before and after for setup and wrap-up.  We will be starting at 8 AM on Saturday and running through 1 PM.

MicroHAMS will have a screen, projector, laptop with Powerpoint, and an amplified speaker system with microphone (and connection to the laptop audio.)  We will also have a host that will help you with setup and wrap-up.

If you have any interest, or questions please contact the program manager (me) Grant Hopper, KB7WSD at kb7...@gmail.com

Thanks and 73,

I wanted to bring this up again since there are so many capable people and interesting projects and activities that people on this list undertake.

A short presentation isn't asking much and if you're going to be at Puyallup anyway (and many of you are) what is 20 minutes of your time as measured against sharing your interests with others.

I'd like to get more diversity in the nature of our presentations and one or two different VHF and microwave focused presentations would absolutely do that.

Offering a glimpse into a different aspect of our hobby is an opportunity to expose newer hams to areas of the hobby they might not have heard about from what ever club (meetings) that they might attend that are about their repeater or the latest HF activity that someone saw.

Please step up and offer 20 minutes of your day for this worthy need.
