Hi Folks,

Last week on the net, Frank AG6QV and I experimented with Q65 after the FT8 contacts died down. We did contact another station, but we're still working out the settings.

We see quite a lot of aircraft scatter in the Seattle area, which suggests we should use a wider spacing than the default as there are often doppler-shifted reflections.

If anyone else is interested in trying Q65, I will be trying that again from about 8:30PM.

My initial settings will be Q65-30B, which I've seen mentioned by VK folk using AS.

Just a followup -- we had three people active on Q65, including W7IUV from DN07 across the Cascades, via aircraft scatter (for me, at least).

W7IUV heard me call once, but I did not hear his reply. I have a large hill to the East and was aiming at the Olympics, so it could be a double bounce.

Attached is a screen cap showing the increasing doppler shift, which may exceed the tone spacing in mode B.  Any thoughts -- should we try mode C?

Suggest you turn up the max drift setting, it defaults to 0.  I also play around with Ftol values.

I'll be looking for 2m Q65 contacts.

As an additional FYI, I sometimes switch to 432 FT8 after things die down.
