Hi,

It's been exciting to hear that some of you have begun to use
Spectran to detect signals during the 1296 net. We're going to do
something different tomorrow during the net to try to help some of
our DX stations. At 9:00am I'll quickly check in any local stations,
then point south to pick up KI7JA if he's there. I will then point
back to Mt. Rainier and transmit CQ on even minutes between 9:10 and
9:20, listening on the odd minutes. If I hear you, I'll come back to
you on the next even minute. At 9:20 I'll take any late check-ins
and end the session.

Some of you have written to me regarding the creation of a Google
spreadsheet for the DX activity. I have strong reservations about
this, despite the fact that I spent over 20 years using and teaching
others how to use spreadsheets. While I have no objection to using a
computer for many ham applications like logging and Spectran, over
the years I've strongly resisted using parallel communications
channels to facilitate making contacts. If we hear each other, then
we both know we made a contact.

Let's try out the 9:10-9:20 schedule and see how things work.

73s,
Susan
