Knowledge sharing on lake matters with Odisha officials

The Housing and Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha is on a mission to rejuvenate waterbodies in urban areas across the state of Odisha with a key focus towards their rejuvenation through scientific low-cost ecological solutions, long-term sustainability and community led O&M.
In line with this, a team of officials from H & UD, Odisha led by Mr. G. Mathi Vathanan, Principal Secretary, Ms. Sagarika Patnaik, Special Secretary & Mission Director, AMRUT, advisors and consultants are in Bengaluru between 13th July and 15th July, ‘22 on an exposure visit to meet various experts and visit select waterbodies.
At the knowledge sharing session held yesterday. 14th July, we made a presentation on the evolution of Puttenahalli Puttakere. The team was particularly impressed that we have been nurturing the lake for 12 years and that we meet expenses from donations from the neighbourhood. A big, big thanks to all our donors, volunteers and well wishers.
Ms. Annapurna from Jakkur Lake, Mr. Ram Prasad from Friends of Lakes, Dr. Chanakya, Puttenahalli Yelahanka and Dr. Inayatullah, Director, Water Institute, UVCE, Bangalore University shared their experiences as well which were greatly appreciated.
Acknowledging the help of us, citizen groups, Mr. Mohan Krishna, Chief Engineer said our lakes are the best maintained in the city. The newly appointed Special Commissioner, BBMP, Lakes, Dr. V. Ramprasath Manohar, IAS, welcomed the visiting dignitaries. Janaagraha had coordinated this visit.
