Talk - Sat 2pm by Oliver on "Plotting data using python-matplotlib"

Hi All,

This Saturday, Oliver will give a talk on "Plotting data using Matplotlib".

Matplotlib is a plotting library in python with interface similar to matlab. Most of his data is in HDF5 format (which is also default format for Matlab dat file) (http://www.h5py.org/).

To install:

       sudo apt-get install python-matplotlib (on Ubuntu/Debian/Mint/Other deb based system)
       sudo yum install python-matplotlib    (on Fedora/Centos/RedHat/Other RPM based system)

Alternatively if you already have `python-pip` installed.
      
       sudo -E pip install matplotlib

You can also clone the everything we have prepared so far for Python_Tutorial from github using git. Open the terminal, install git and issue the following command.

      $ git clone https://github.com/pncg/Python_Tutorial

Alternatively, you can visit the repository https://github.com/PNCG/Python_Tutorial and download everything as a zip file.

This session was intended to make you play with matplotlib. Now we realized that there should have been a numpy session before it.

If you stuck somewhere, do post questions on this forum or come to Wed/Fri sessions. Let me know if you plan to come on Wed/Fri.
