In case you missed the e-mails a few weeks ago (see below), remember that the election supervisor reports from this year and last year, with appendices, are on our Google group's files section at http://groups.google.com/group/pnb_elections/files?&sort=date
I hope all committee members have had an opportunity to read these reports, as they have a lot of important information that can be useful to us in making recommendations for future Pacifica elections.
I hope we can spend a good portion of the meeting Tuesday reviewing the LES and NES reports, and getting started on recommendations, so it's important to review this material BEFORE the meeting Tuesday.
I suggest you start with this year's NES report. But save some time to read the other reports, too. The most important parts for our committee to discuss may be the recommendations sections (in each of the reports) and the Obstacles section of the NES report (starting on page 25). But I do hope each of you can read all of each report.
We do need to review this material before next year and I hope all of you can join us, even though I don't think any station's LSB will be choosing new national committee members until January.
Please let me know by Monday night, if possible, if you have anything else to add to the draft agenda for the committee meeting, and please be on time so we won't waste time waiting for quorum.
Thanks to all of you for your participation in the Elections committee this year, too.

For those of you on the PNB Elections Committee, please remember that we decided at the December meeting to defer discussion of most of the details of the 2010 Pacifica election reports sent to us by our NES, until more of the committee has time to review them. There's a lot of material there, and you don't want to wait until the last minute to get started.
As noted in my note from last month, I've uploaded all of the reports that are available (from the 2009 and 2010 elections) to our Google groups web page at http://groups.google.com/group/pnb_elections/files?&sort=date
(You may need to log in with your Google ID in order to access these files, even though they are set for public viewing. Please let me know if you have any trouble with that. The files are quite voluminous and I don't want to e-mail them to you unless you have trouble downloading them, so I don't overflow your inboxes.)
Appendix 16 in the NES report is missing -- the one dealing with election costs, and which we discussed the need for in our Dec. meeting. Renee Asteria told me after our Dec. meeting that appendix is not done because she had not received the financial data for the report. LaVarn assured me that we would get that info before our Jan. meeting. I'll follow up with her to make sure we get that in time to review it along with the other information.
Renee told me that the WBAI LES had not completed the report for 2010 but hoped to get it soon. It's not in the packet Renee sent us.
In addition, I did not receive a 2009 LES report for KPFT, presumably because the LES that year did not provide one. I assume we won't get that. Renee was able to get all of the other reports and send them to us, though.

My understanding was that Nichole had sent a report to Renee: I don't
know if it was rejected, returned for revision, never arrived, or
what, but the committee might want to review the contracts of
supervisors re payment and the report; in the first election, we
never got a report, got grumbling about the extra work, but then it
was well worth the extra money required to produce it. Since then, I
have been told, a final report is in the contract. We need to see
the contracts, I think, before we review the finances, or at least
before we scrutinize them for work completed, not completed, etc, so
that next time there are not hesitations about who is supposed to do
what, or when, or how.

Re: making sure reports are in the contracts, that's one thing I stressed to Arlene early in 2010 -- that the contracts for the NES and LESs should say they don't get their last paycheck until they provided reports that included problems they had, what they did about them, and recommendations for the future. That seemed to make a difference as we got much more complete reports for 2010 (and Renee even got the ones from 2009 that we never saw then) than ever before. I don't know if your LES got her final pay check or not, but should not have if we didn't get a report from her. I never saw the actual contracts, though.

Please review (before Tuesday evening's committee meeting) the reports (see below) that I uploaded to our Google group web page last month. Discussion of them will be a major part of tomorrow's agenda, and I want all of you to be able to provide comments and suggestions on the 2010 elections in order to help make improvements to the Pacifica election process before our next elections.
The reports are all at http://groups.google.com/group/pnb_elections/files?&sort=date
You might need to log in with your (free) Google ID to access them (I'm not sure), although all the files there should be public.
I still have not received the 2010 LES report from WBAI, nor Appendix 16 of the 2010 NES report, but this appendix was to have election expenses, and the preliminary summary I got a few days ago has some errors in it. I hope we can get the final figures soon.
