Now that the next PNB meeting date is set, please let me know (by
tomorrow morning) what day(s) are OK for you for the next PNB
Personnel committee meeting. The last two times we tried to have a
meeting, we did not get quorum, and for the next try after that only
three of you said you could participate in the next date.

Days that are available (and OK with others I think) are Fri. 11/19,
Sat. 11/20, and Sun. 11/21. Please let me know for each of those
dates whether you can participate, and we'll pick the one with the
fewest conflicts.

At a minimum, we need to get the ED annual review going -- we are
already late on this, because we did not reach quorum for our Oct. or
Nov. meetings.

Below is the draft agenda -- please let me know if you see anything
that should be changed.

Also, please e-mail any suggested changes you feel should be made to
the ED evaluation. If we identify any changes that might be needed
before the meeting, it will make the meeting go a lot faster.

It looks like Sunday is OK with the most people for our next Personnel Comm. meeting. Marcel suggested we avoid doing it around 7 PM (EST), so how about we try for 5 PM EST/4 PM CST/2 PM PST.

Will that work for everyone?

Sunday was best for Marcel, and I thought everyone else (except Efia, who can't participate before 11/22) said Sunday was OK. If that's not right, then Friday is fine with me as long as everyone else can make it. Can everyone please confirm?

I'm still having trouble getting enough people to confirm for quorum for the Personnel meeting, and it's too late to arrange for streaming/archiving and not adequate notice for an official meeting, but let's try for this Sunday, Nov.21, 5 PM EST/4 PM CST/2 PM PST. Nia says she can't make it then, Efia won't be available before Monday, I think Tuesday is the PNB meeting (although it's not posted on the kpftx calendar), Joe may only be able to stay for a little while, and I believe Sunday is the only day Ricco said he could do it.

I'll try recording the meeting with my phone -- that has worked for me sometimes. Then I can convert it to mp3 and send it to Otis or Jon for posting later.

Everyone, whether you can join us on Sunday or not, please e-mail all of us with whatever you have that's relevant to the agenda (given below).

I'm hoping we can make some progress and at least see if we can get our ED evaluation going before it's too late.

Hey Bill,

I can see how difficult it is to get everyone to agree on a time. Sat
was the only problem for me but I will make myself available to make
either today Fri, Sat or Sun. I hope this helps.

OK, let's just try for meeting Sunday afternoon as I suggested in my note a few days ago, along with whatever info anyone wants to send by e-mail before then.

If any of you can't make it for the entire meeting, it would help if you could at least call in for the first of the meeting.

I"m pasting in the updated draft agenda with the correct date and time below.

I sent the KPFT org chart to all of you several weeks ago -- if you need me to send it again, I'll be glad to do that. Same goes for the ED evaluation survey and related docs, and the CFO job description.

We didn't have enough people for quorum again today (4th time this
month) for the PNB Personnel committee conference call/meeting. It's
been a problem because we haven't been able to make decisions on any
of the items on the agenda -- things we should have been working on
starting several weeks ago.

I know everyone has lots of other commitments and activities, so
let's try something different so we can make progress on what we need
to do.

The three of us on the conference call today (Marcel, Ricco, and I)
agreed to try discussing the agenda items (below) via e-mail, as we
haven't been making any progress due to the quorum issue. We'll use
the (public) PNB-Personnel Google group at
http://groups.google.com/group/pnb-personnel set up earlier this
year, so the discussions will be archived and public so anyone can
see them. Those not on the committee are welcome to join the group
(free) so they can post messages, too. Messages can be sent to the
Google group (and automatically archived) by sending to
pnb-pe...@googlegroups.com

I'll put a note on the Personnel committee calendar listing letting
everyone know what we're doing and how to find our Google group. I
hope others on the PNB will spread the word to those at each station
who are interested in following this committee.

For this to work, we'll need committee members to read and respond to
the e-mails, or we'll have the same problem with lack of quorum. So
I hope everyone will respond promptly.

Thanks in advance to all committee members for helping us see if this
will work, at least thsi time so we can make some progress on the
important topics for this committee.

I hope next month we'll be able to find a date when all of the
committee can meet.

Thank you, Bill: sounds as if lame-duck committees got an early
start this year!

I'll look forward to the discussion on line - a good solution and
perhaps one that other committees ought to set up.

One item on the PNB Personnel Committee agenda that's been hanging for several weeks while we were trying to reach quorum is the annual job performance review of our ED. Our ED will finish her first year at the end of this month. In addition, our CFO completes her first year on her job full time on Feb. 1 and we need to make preparations for her annual review. I think that at the latest, we should complete the annual review for our ED and schedule an executive session with the PNB before our terms end in January. Ideally, we should do the same for our CFO, but I think that will be quite difficult to complete by then if we're going to revise the CFO job description first, as we've discussed before (to make the job description better organized and easier to relate to evaluation questions).

We need to decide:
* Will we do annual ED and CFO performance evaluation surveys (as we did for the 6-month review)? If so:
- What changes, if any, do we want to make to the surveys we used before?
- Who should we send the survey to? (PNB, national staff, members of national committees, LSB chairs?, plus business managers for the CFO eval.) (will need to check for any new names & e-mail addresses)
- Who can help write the summary reports for the PNB and our ED and CFO?
- What changes should we make to the CFO job description first and can we get that done and approved by the PNB in time?
* Should we send the surveys out as soon as they are ready?

Anything else we need to decide about this?
