Can I appear for PMP exam if I am currently unemployed?

I have 9 years overall exp with 5 years of proj management exp. I have been on a break from work during the past one year and would like to get PMP certified to add value to my resume. I am not sure if I can apply for PMP when I am currently unemployed. Please advise.Thanks.

Yes, you can apply for PMP even if you are unemployed.

You can always apply for PMP exam even if you are unemployed as long as you have 3500 hours (which you mentioned you have as you for last 5 years). I am from NJ and plan to give the exam around April and have just started studying. Let me know if you want to buckle up.
