Hi Group,

(Not sure if it looks an insane question. It is just to strengthen the concept)

Could you please comment as what is the difference between a 'Knowledge Area' and a 'Process Group'

Thanks

Hi Vikas,

When Project Management processes are grouped "logically", they form
"Process Groups". Example, all the processes that occur at the
beginning of a project or a project phase are grouped into Initiating
Process Group. All planning related processes go under Planning
Process Group, and so on ...

When Project Management processes are grouped by "areas of
specialization", they form "Knowledge Areas". Example, cost
management, schedule management, quality management etc.

Makes sense?

Regards,
Harwinder

That was a really good explanation Harwinder.

Vikas:
I would just add that process groups is logical partitioning by techniques
And Knowledge areas is logical partitioning  by domain or specialization.

Thanks,
Niranjan, PMP
