The technical team has just identified a process that requires some
corrective action. Corrective action is also called:
a. Continuous process improvement
b. Defect analysis
c. Rework
d. Constraint analysis

A (after eliminating the rest of the options) - Since corrective action effects future result and hence continuous improvement.

Incorrect Answer explanations :
B - Defect Analysis will need complete change
C - Corrective action is related to future performance not rework
D - Constraint analysis is already done long time before corrective action is taken

I agree with Manoj's answer.
Corrective action is defined as "Documented direction for executing the project work to bring expected furure performance of the project work in line with the project management plan.

Corrective action is done before re-work and it is like Controlling the process going from out of bounds so it is used continuously to keep the project or process execution in line with PMP I think the answer A is correct.

In Defect Analysis one is analyzing the defect i.e documenting it as what is the defect and the causes for the same.
re-work is done after the product is complete i.e you are fixing the product which is cost of non-conformity. where as corrective action is the process of cost of conformity which normally with in your baseline since you have a quality management plan in place in your PMP.

Constraint Analysis is again a re-search.

I think we should look into the verbs very carefully.

What is the answer from source of this question?

Thanks,

Krishna

Krishna,
I would tend to believe that Preventive action is continuous improvement and not corrective action. Corrective action is done to bring the future performance inline with the plan and is done after a problem which signifies a rework.

So my option would be C rework.

Please mention the answer from the source.

Mahesh once aqgain bang on target.

The correct answer was response c.
Explanation: Corrective action is rework by definition. PMBOK® Guide,
p. 438: “Action taken to bring a defective or nonconforming component
into compliance…”

The source as usual is Edwel Programs.

So Mahesh to take this one step furthur, could we say corrective
action and defect repairs are reactive while preventive actions are
proactive.

Thanks,

Thanks for confirming Eldrin.

Yes, Rework, Workaround, Corrective Action are all reactive and happens after an unidentified risk occurs while preventive actions to bring future performance in line is proactive.
