Is Calculator Allowed in PMP Exam?

If yes, any suggestions on which one to buy and do we need to confirm with Prometric also?

Thanks
Vipin

Calcs are not allowed during the exam. An embedded system calc is what
you get to use and before you start the exam, there is a quick
tutorial on how to use it.

Basically you can use the calculator on the PC. Similar to one which we have on any PC

Hi Fai,
Can you please share details on how to use embedded calc. Asking as in some centres they may not know abt it.

Thanks

Vipin,

As Nagraj mentioned, its the standard PC calc that is available. The
maths questions in the exam usually involve the Add, Multiply, Divide,
Subtract kindda problems with no advanced trignometry or such
questions. If you can use a standard calc, you will be fine. All the
best.

I think, it depends on your exam center,

I asked couple candidates befoer I appeared for exam, they they provide you with calculator while when I appeared exam I was not given calculator but was adviced to use the one which is there in the PC with Microsoft OS.

this was my experience through which I understand it depends on the exam center however, it does not matter whether you are given a physical calculator seperately or you are using microsoft calculator in your workstop.

Hi,

In the centre where I took my exam on 20 Oct 2010, I was given a
calculator. This turned out to be helpful because the mouse was
squeaky (literary) and not sensitive and I found myself making
mistakes while clicking on the keys on the screen calculator.
Therefore if you choose to use the screen calculator you need to be
careful. Try to use the keypad on keyboard if the mouse is not
accurate. Otherwise ask for a calculator if possible.

All the best!

Guys,

From my experience, I did not even feel the need for a calc during the
exam..so I guess this is the point you should be least worried about.
The minimal calculations involved are so basic that you can easily do
them manually.

You are absolutely right, Vipin. You cannot use anything other than exam application...and a basic calculator has been built into exam application so you can access it anytime during the exam.

Thanks every one for your inputs. In brief what I understand is that do not worry about calculator, there will be some way of getting it in the exam when need comes :)

Thanks
