Hi guys,

This was the question posted on a different forum... Most of us have some doubts on what exactly is Post-mortem projects and Post-Mortem analysis.  Can you all share your thoughts regarding these 2 questions. I have given my explanations below. Request you all to review and let me know if I am write or wrong.

Qs. Post mortem Earned value analysis of a project showed the following data: SPI: 1.22 CPI: 1.00 What is this telling you?
A. The entire work of the project has been finished behind schedule and on budget.
B. The entire work of the project has been finished ahead of schedule and on budget.
C. The project has been terminated before completion. At that time it was ahead of schedule and on budget
D. The project has been terminated before completion. At that time it was behind schedule and on budget.

According to the dictionary Post Mortem means "Occurring or done after death."  You can infer from this definition that a post mortem performed during a project means that the project has been terminated.

So C is the correct answer.

Qs. Post-mortem analysis after scheduled finish date of a project shows a CPI of 0.8 and an SPI of 1.25. What is a plausible explanation for that?
A. The project was terminated early. At that time, it was over budget and ahead of schedule.
B. The project has produced additional deliverables which were originally not required.
C. The project has evidently been finished under budget and behind of schedule.
D. The project has evidently been finished over budget and ahead of schedule.

Here the question is Post Mortem analysis after a scheduled finish date... Its not a terminated project though. The project has finished on scheduled date... Hence the word Post-Mortem does not add any value... You need to consider this as any other normal project. So the correct answer is D.

Please review both the questions and let me know what are your thoughts.

Santhosh

Kindly post in 2 different mails.

as 1)  B--- For a good or a bad cause we do analyse what made it, so when the project is on budget and ahead of its schedule, where is question of termination?

     2)   D---I go with ur explanation
