Trip Report: Fairy Meadow Ski
Week 2026
A classic Fairy Meadow week delivered both powder and perspective. After three clear, cold days exploring objectives around the Houdini area (including ascents to Friendship Col and a Pioneer Peak summit loop) the weather shifted. A multi-day snowfall transformed
the landscape, loading the terrain and bringing avalanche activity that echoed through the valley.
Edmonton Section Expeditions to Mount Temple with Wayne Vibert
Mount Temple (3,544 m) has long been a defining objective for ACC Edmonton. Archival reports from Wayne Vibert (1938–2012) highlight decades of member-led trips marked by variable conditions, from deep snow and avalanches to smoke and rockfall. His accounts
emphasize preparation; ice axes, crampons, and sound judgment were essential. Beyond technical lessons, these trips reflect the section’s enduring culture of leadership, resilience, and community in the mountains. Mount Temple remains a proving ground for
Edmonton climbers today.
Have a trip report or story idea? 100–200 words is all you need. Send your draft or pitch to
Ahmed (ACC Edmonton Communications Coordinator), it’s a great way to document your adventures and inspire fellow members.
