Dear colleagues,

I just wanted to alert you to two upcoming talks of interest from members of the PMJS community:

Thomas Conlan: Japanese and Joseon Relations during the period of Ōuchi Dominion: 1392-1551
Ellen Van Goethem: Building for the Sovereign and the Buddha: Artisans and Labourers in Eighth-Century Japan

Information about these events came to me through our Events page on the Japan Past & Present website, which also features filters to search by event type, time period, event format (in person, hybrid, fully virtual, etc.) and more. There's also options to convert the information to your timezone or directly load it in your calendar (!).

We encourage folks to share their events (in any language!) to the page--anyone can do so--to help colleagues around the world access information on research taking place well beyond our own regions. I very much hope to see more premodern events uploaded there!

All the best,

Paula
