Hello,
We, Tokyo Centre of EFEO (Ecole française d'Extrême-Orient, or French School of Asian Studies), organize a seminar of Buddhist kanbun for foreign students. Here are the details:
Introduction to Buddhist Kanbun
Biweekly seminar organised by the Tokyo Centre of Ecole française d'Extreme-Orient, designed for foreign students and young researchers.
Reading kanbun is an essential skill to study Premodern Japanology. In the seminar, we shall explore basic Budddhist kanbun texts. The seminar is conducted in Japanese, English and French. Good degree in Japanese is minimum requirement.
Fee: free
Twice a month (Monday evening 18H – 20H)
Location: Tôyô bunko (10 minutes from JR station Komagome)
The next seminar will be on September 6th.
We are now reading stories from the Gengu-kyô (Taisho 202), a collection of Buddhist tales.
------
The same seminar, once a month, is organized in Kyoto too.
------
Many students stay in Japan only for some months, so that we are almost always looking for new students.
If you are interested, please contact Nobumi Iyanaga <

I would be grateful also if you could re-post this message to any interested parties.
Thank you very much in advance.
