Over two days, we invite you to hear from our eleven presenters on a wide range of topics,
periods, genres, and approaches, from medieval Buddhist commentaries to AI-generated waka,
from Meiji-period jōruri to military imagery in the early works of Abe Kōbō.
(There are also five poster presentations.)
In addition, to commemorate this 50th year since NIJL's original founding,
part of the first day's program will be devoted to two special anniversary lectures by
(1) Watanabe Yasuaki (current NIJL director) and (2) Hayashi Nozomu (noted author and translator).
