This is a reminder that the Call for Papers and Panel Proposals for the 18th EAJS International Conference (Poznań, Poland, 27–30 August 2026) is now open.

Call for Papers and Panel Proposals
18th EAJS International Conference 2026, 27–30 August 2026
Poznań, Poland / Hybrid Format

With over 1,200 members, the European Association for Japanese Studies (EAJS) is the largest association for Japanese Studies in Europe. Its triennial International Conferences bring together PhD students, early-career scholars and experienced researchers to present and discuss their work across the full spectrum of disciplines, as well as interdisciplinary areas, within Japanese Studies.

The 18th EAJS International Conference will be hosted at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and will be offered in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join either in person or online.

We invite individual paper proposals and pre-organised panel proposals for the following sections:

  • Urban and Regional Studies
  • Modern Literature 
  • Pre-modern Literature
  • Visual Arts
  • Performing Arts
  • Media Studies
  • Economics, Business and Political Economy
  • History
  • Religion and Religious Thought
  • Intellectual History and Philosophy
  • Politics and International Relations
  • Law
  • Language and Linguistics
  • Anthropology and Sociology
  • Interdisciplinary Section: Digital Humanities
  • Interdisciplinary Section: Environmental Studies
  • Interdisciplinary Section: Gender Studies
  • Interdisciplinary Section: Trans-Regional Studies (East/Northeast/Southeast Asia)
  • Japanese Language Education
