Dear colleagues,

On behalf of NCC (North American Coordinating Council on Japanese Library Resources) and Japanese Studies librarians from the PPA (Plains to Pacific Alliance), we extend a thank you to everyone who attended or shared information on our Introductory Sessions on JapanKnowledge and its features. Registration remains open for the final workshop event in our JapanKnowledge series, which will be an Advanced Session on October 21 (19:00-20:30 EDT). This session is for those who want to learn more in-depth about database collections and their applications in scholarship. Please forward this invitation to your institution’s faculty and graduate students in Japanese Studies.

  • Advanced Session (English & Japanese): Oct. 21st. 19:00-20:30 (EDT), 18:00-19:30 (CDT), 17:00-18:30 (MDT), 16:00-17:30 (PDT),13:00-14:30 (Hawaii), & 8:00-9:30 (Oct. 22 JST)
This session is recommended for those who would like to explore more of the database. This session uses breakout rooms featuring a variety of 10-20 minute presentations by publishers and JapanKnowledge users. Participants are encouraged to move freely from room to room to explore multiple sessions according to their research needs and interests.
    • Publishers’ talk. Selected Japanese publishers will introduce their collections (the host will assist with communication as needed).
      Featured content:
      • Fūzoku gahō/風俗画報 by Yumani Shobō
      • Tōyō Keizai Shinpō/東洋経済新報 by Tōyō Keizai Shinpōsha
      • New features of JapanKnowledge by NetAdvance

*Including the above-mentioned, Fūzoku gahō & Tōyō Keizai Shinpō, all participants are offered immediate Free-of-Charge Trials for JapanKnowledge for a limited time.

  • Researchers’ talk. Several scholars will share their research experiences with JK and talk about how it has changed and/or developed their research.

*Please make sure to update your Zoom apps before attending the workshops to ensure you have full Breakout Room functionality on all your preferred devices.

Please use the following link to register for each workshop. Participants will have a chance to try out JapanKnowledge during their sessions. Pre-registration is suggested due to limited available seats and will be closed three days before each session.
