Dear colleagues,

 

Please see below for details of a PhD studentship offered by the Autonomous University of Barcelona as part of the European Research Council Consolidator Grant project “Consuming Nature: Early Modernity, Popular Culture and the Natural World in Japan, 1600-1900.” The post covers tuition fees, a living allowance, and generous funding for fieldwork and conference travel.

Applications are warmly invited from students with a background or interest in cultural history, material culture studies, environmental history, literature, gender studies, the history of science, or other related fields. Spanish or Catalan languages skills are not required.

 

The closing dates for applications is 20th April 2026.
