Hi, this is Ryan.
I want to make a reconstructed Proto-Japonic lexicon similar to Blust's Austronesian Comparative Dictionary.
I wonder if someone can help collaborate with this, which is why I've been requesting Ryukyuan resources. I want the many cognate sets possible of Japonic.

This will be similar to the abandoned Vovin's Etymological Dictionary of the Japonic languages, whose site is now gone.
Examples of PJ words with many Ryukyuan cognates include:
  • *mentu - water
  • *kəy - tree
  • *sima - island
  • *tukuy - moon
  • *esoy - stone (from iswo [磯])
  • *moko - bridegroom; son-in-law
  • *peru - garlic
That's not all yet!

There are bookstores in Ishigaki (Yamada Shoten, for example) and on Okinawa (not necessarily in Naha) that are likely sources for the  石垣方言辞典.
