Job Details:

The Department of History in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Mercer University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin August 1, 2024.

 

Responsibilities:

The Department of History invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in pre-1450 CE Africa, Asia, or the Middle East at the rank of Assistant Professor. The research specialty is open and may treat any country or region within that scope. The course load is 21 credits a year (a 3-4 load). The successful candidate will teach an introductory course on Global Histories, upper-level history courses in the candidate’s area of specialty, and courses in the college’s core curriculum for general education in either or both the Integrative Curriculum and Great Books Curriculum.

 

Qualifications:

A PhD in History or a related field from an accredited college/university is required. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor until the PhD is obtained, but the Ph.D. must be completed no later than December 31, 2024.

Selection of the final candidate is contingent on a successful background check.
