I write to announce that the hardcover version of my book, Defining Waka Musically: Songs of Male Love in Premodern Japan (Palgrave, 2023), is currently on sale (52% off) through Amazon. In Defining Waka Musically, bridging musicology, nanshoku literature, and sociolinguistics, I argue that waka is a synesthetic object, i.e., a multi-sensory sound art, rather than just a literary one.
