Dear colleagues and friends,

I am writing to announce the publication of my new book Pleasure in Profit. Popular Prose in Seventeenth-Century Japan, which is published by Columbia University Press.

As the title suggest, this is intended to be the first comprehensive study of the birth of Japanese commercial publishing, with a focus on the vibrant world of vernacular popular literature.

The book is available in hardcover, paperback, and e-book. You can order the book from the website of Columbia University Press: https://cup.columbia.edu/book/pleasure-in-profit/9780231197236

You can also find it on the usual websites, including Amazon (UK, US) and Bookshop.org.

So many of you have been absolutely amazing in helping me write this book. To every one of you goes my heartfelt gratitude.

Best wishes,
Laura
