Dear Colleagues (especially those of you at the early stages of your academic career),

Oxford is looking to hire a pre-1868 Japanese historian to fill a gap that they have had for 25 years. This is of course excellent news, and I would encourage those of you within the appropriate range to apply. It is a bit different in the UK, and especially at Oxbridge, but the conditions for conducting research are excellent, while professors get to work closely with talented students. In addition, the college system makes for a wonderful academic environment.

Please note that while the ad says “associate professor,” recent PhDs are eligible.
