I would like to consult a kaken-hōkokusho entitled 中世末・近世初期における折本画帳の研究 -比較メディア論的方法による. The lead researcher was the late Professor Ōnishi Hiroshi of Musashi Daigaku and the project lasted from 1998-2000. The only copy listed on CiNii is in Musashi Daigaku, but I wonder if any art historians on this list might have acquired a copy. Dear Prof. Kornicki,

I saw your post looking for the KAKEN research report (hōkokusho) by the late Prof. Hiroshi Ōnishi: "中世末・近世初期における折本画帳の研究 -比較メディア論的方法による" (Project Number: 10610065).

While the official report itself might be difficult to access outside Musashi University, you might be glad to know that the core findings and essays of this research were actually published commercially in a decentralized manner across 19 separate outputs.

You can verify the full list of these 19 publications on the official KAKEN website here (scroll down to the "Research Products" section):

Since these commercial journals and books are much more widely distributed and likely available via major library networks (or even used bookstores in Japan) compared to the single university-held KAKEN report, looking into these volumes might give you almost everything you need for your research.
