Dear colleagues

I am pleased to announce that booking for the 14th Noh Training Project UK is now open.

Noh Training Project UK at Royal Holloway
Full workshop: 10-21 August 2026 *
5-day option: 10-14 August 2026 *

*Participants with no previous experience of Noh are asked to attend an induction workshop taking place on Sunday 9 August 2026, free of charge.

Noh Training Project UK offers a rare opportunity to study the dance, chant, and music of Noh as a part of the same integrated workshop. The first week of the workshop will be led by Richard Emmert, a certified instructor in the Kita School, noh composer and instrumentalist. In the second week, he will be joined by master actor Akira Matsui, who will lead masterclasses in movement.

The workshop is open to anyone interested: performers, directors, scholars and students with an interest in the form, or Japan, are invited to attend. No Japanese language is necessary. Sessions will be conducted in English, with Japanese translation where required.

Tuition will take place in the Department of Music, Drama, and Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, located in Egham, Surrey. Accommodation can be booked separately if required, or participants can commute to the campus.
