Excuse any cross-posting. I am writing to share the announcement of my upcoming lecture at Kyoto University:

“VISUAL VOCALITY AND THE ORDER OF REASON: Knowledge Hierarchies and Aesthetic Power from Europe to Nineteenth-Century Japan”

The lecture will take place at Kyoto University, Yoshida South Campus, Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Room 433, 
on 5 December 2025, 16:45–18:30 (JST). 
If you happen to be in Kyoto and interested in visual culture, religious history, or colonial/imperial entanglements, you are very welcome to join.
