Question about key-value store use cases

Hi all,

I'm working on a key-value store implementation that is eventually targeting Optane DC Persistent Memory and was wondering whether anyone had any
insight into use cases, specifically record lengths.

Does anyone use relatively short records, e.g., records where key + value is <= 60 bytes?

Does anyone need long records, e.g., key + value > 32K bytes?

Does anyone need variable key sizes, variable value sizes, or both?
If so, what might the distribution of key sizes be?
What about the distribution of record sizes?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Without disclosing the details of customer ... I can tell you that there are use cases with key value size larger than 15K.  The customer uses the key-value store for thumbnails storage.  While it is not a common practice, it exists.

By the way, if anyone has any ideas as to how I could get access to a server with DC persistent memory for testing, I'd be very appreciative of that
too.

So far I have tried the Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory Developer Challenge and the Intel Cloud Insider program, but have gotten nowhere with those.
I've also inquired with Google about their supposed availability in the cloud, but haven't heard back from them at all.

I've even contacted Supermicro, who claims on their website to be shipping servers with ODCPM. But the guy I talked to said they can't sell onesies,
just large amounts like 100 servers at a time, and that even if they could sell me one, it would start at over $10K just for the CPU.

Maybe I'll just have to wait until general availability, but it would be very nice to get a week or two of testing time before then so I can get real
performance numbers rather than just guessing.
