Just a quick message regarding recent spam messages. Currently, an
unusual pattern of spam messages involving new members bypassing first-
post moderation has been set up on the ply-hack group. I'm not
exactly sure how one might stop it other than to moderate everything
(which I don't really want to do). However, I'm keeping an eye on the
situation and trying to delete messages and members as soon as they
appear.

Cheers,
Dave

The new generation of spammers is really insidious. I'm having a
difficult time swiping them off my blog. Most likely these are penny-
paid outsourcers from sites like Rentacoder. I've seen many "500 blog
comments for 5$" jobs there.
Since these are people, they will overcome any moderation method.

Not true - the feature David is referring to (which is working on the google groups I run) moderates posts from a user until the manager approves. The only manual way round it *should* be to make a genuine post first which is approved, and then the user is free to post spam.
