Mylaptop come with Windows 8.1 64bit operating and there is a recovery partition to factory reset. It is protected by the HP recovery manager. After i update to Windows 10, reset my PC (not factory reset) with the option delete everything, so now i have a Windows 10 origin with no bloatware, and i can see everything in the Recovery partition, how can i get HP Recovery manager back to protect the Recovery partition?

I don't want to Factory reset because there so many bloatware came with my laptop, I just want to get HP recovery manager back, i can't find HP recovery manager for Windows 10 in HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, there is one for Windows 8.1 but i can't install it.

Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives.

What I recommend is the following:

1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)

2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick

3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CD

NOW, you have the means to restore a full working system from the external drive or USB stick in only a few minutes.

I have done the same brother. When i upgraded my windows 8.1 to 10, after upgrading, i reset my pc. and now, boom. The recovery partition shows it's files. is it possible to recover the factory windows 8.1, by pressing F11 and recovering from their. Plz reply

3. This will not happen. Win10 was a Microsoft update that you choose it wasn't HP doing here. If you want drivers for your laptop you can always look at the HP driver page for your model to find the drivers. This isn't hard to do a little homework goes along way to find your drivers.

To create new recovery media for a PC that you upgraded to Win10, HP would have to provide new image files. Those files are several GB in size, not practical for downloading, even if HP did make them available -- which they do not.

My laptop began to freeze within 30 minutes of a startup to where I kept having to force ata shutdown with the power button since I couldn't open anything, even keyboard shortcuts, like for the task manager would do absolutely nothing. I attempted system restore about 3 xs and it would not complete. So I wanted to see if the Recovery Manager had any options to fix the issue. I selected File Backup first just in case. The program progress window clearly states this process may take several minutes. It's been 14 hours and it has been stuck at 10% on the same file for at least an hour. I'm attempting to be patient, but I have a feeling that the File Backup is not going to continue. There is a cancel option at the bottom. I would appreciate insight as to if I cancel the process will it mess things up more? It's still in the scanning 1st phase to create a list of files to backup. 14 hours to not even have the initial list. So if cancel won't hurt it and if it doesn't stop it. Is my next step to force a shutdown again? I am wanting to know all the angles here before proceeding. What would be the recommendation to do next if I would love to save my files if possible. I did create a recovery USB drive from the update and security portion of settings in windows 10. I've never have used one before but set it up for such an occasion. Not sure how to use it properly though. Please help.

Hi

PLEASE POST ANY RESULTS.

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected

devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.

Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.

Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.

Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.

Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

AND/OR

HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:-

That was further than I have been able to get. I followed your direction. And repeatedly pressed esc. It brought my up the list of options. I first tried f2 and it gave me what resembled the command prompt line cursor and nothing after. So I unplugged and restarted it the same way. This time I selected the recovery f11 option. Currently I have my typical hp symbol in the center of the screen, it says please wait below that, and having the swirling circle. I am waiting for it to go to its black screen. Which this seem to go to a black screen following. And yep black screen again. Ot has randomly

When it does the black screen there is nothing that I am aware of, other than the restart prossess that you provided already, that will change or or make usable. So what happens now? If I can't seem to get the recovery manager to reset from t I am pp

It had finally let me get to system reset after about 24 hours, then another 24 for getting ready. I clicked my sign in to begin at 4pm yesterday and it went to 1%. Here it is almost 10am the next morning and it's still at 1%. I have a sneaking suspicion you are correct about the hard drive being failed or failing. Since my online english course starts on the 8th, I am going to leave it and see if it finally does anything. I am also on the search for a new laptop since it will be needed before too long. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate. But I don't know of any other step that will help it through this process.

obviously I don't have the recovery manager and I also dont have the windows instalation disc, that's why I made a copy in a USB and tryed to install it that way. The screen shows a Windows BCD store issue. That should'nt be a big issue to resolve

Once you have the recovery usb media you can put your notebook back into the state it was in when you removed it from the box whenever there is a serious issue. If Windows 7 was the OS it was delivered with then running the recovery manager and performing a factory image recovery will reinstall Windows 7 and the recovery partition.

Do yourself the favor of ordering the usb recovery media instead of a recovery disk set. USB recovery media is durable, unlike a recovery disk set, which can be damaged by a simple scratch on the label side.

Well that's messed up. Look around at the HP documentation on the site. It alludes to the fact that all purchasers should have Recovery Manager on their HP systems. It should be downloadable to anyone who purchased an HP machine. If not, no sense in purchasing another machine because the support effort is lacking.

Having a recovery partition and "an HP recovery media creator" should be a convenience for the customer, not the only way to get a recovery image without shelling out $30. An ISO should be available for download, end of story. The Win10 update tanked my laptop and I can't believe that in the year of our Lord 2015, I had to pay $30 for a 20 cent physical media disk that will be hand delivered by the US Postal Service. This isn't customer service.

I'm running LT 2018 and I've had a couple of files that have just been too much for my PC to handle. Because of this, I've crashed out of CAD. Now, when I open CAD back up, I get the drawing recovery manager come up with these files on it. I want to remove the files, but when I try and do this (right click>remove), it just freezes CAD all over again.

Is there a way to clear the DRM list without removing the files individually? Some of them I can't even check the properties to see where the files are so I can delete them. (Some are quite old as I haven't had to use DRM between then and now).
