Learn about integrating climate change education into your classroom or informal education programming, get an introduction to regionally relevant climate science, and hear about how other educators have used these materials. The webinar will be presented by educators who have used the resources in their own teaching, both in the classroom and in place-based education.

Educators (K-12 teachers as well as museum and park educators) have the opportunity to participate for a $100 stipend. This may include surveys or discussions and will be on a first come first serve basis. Please contact Sandi Rutherford for further information.

Certificates of attendance for professional development contact hours can be requested after the webinar; instructions will be provided during the session.

Lyndsey Manzo

Lyndsey Manzo wears multiple hats in the science education world. She has degrees in wildlife biology, science education and natural resources, as well as Senior Professional Educator licensure in grades 7-12. As a high school science teacher for 13 years, she has taught a broad range of classes with students across the academic spectrum from introductory science for English Language Learners and special needs students to Advance Placement Biology and Environmental Science. She also mentors incoming teachers and serves on assessment committees for the Ohio Department of Education.

As an Ohio Sea Grant Educator, Lyndsey co-coordinated the development of the Great Lakes Literacy Principles, the Lake Erie Literacy Principles and the Great Lakes Climate Change Curriculum, and leads many of the efforts to disseminate these products. She has experience using a variety of NOAA and Great Lakes Sea Grant curricula in the classroom and facilitating teacher professional development including week-long workshops on Great Lakes and climate change education, webinars showcasing regional educational resources, and NOAA B-WET funded meaningful watershed education experiences resulting in student stewardship projects.

The OSU Climate Change Outreach Team is a partnership among multiple departments within The Ohio State University to help localize the climate change issue by bringing research and resources to Ohioans and Great Lakes residents. Participating OSU departments include OSU Extension; Ohio Sea Grant College Program & Stone Laboratory; OARDC; School of Environment and Natural Resources; Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics; OSU Extension Watershed Program; Byrd Polar Research Center; Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology; School of Earth Sciences; Carbon, Water, and Climate Program; and the Department of Geography.
