As you know, Chennai and several districts in Tamil Nadu have been devastated by massive floods, not seen in a century. While the locals and the government will be in a rescue mode for the next several weeks, the need for help will be immense AND will continue after the rain stops.
In addition to meeting critical immediate needs, Tamil Nadu Foundation (TNF) will continue to focus on medium to long-term needs of the flood victims in selected communities where we already have a strong network of paid employees and trusted partners.
TNF's ABC education enhancement initiative and summer internship program have been serving underprivileged communities in Chennai (Aminijkkarai, Vadapalani, Thiruvanmiur to name a few), Cuddalore, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts. These happen to be some of the worst affected areas in need of disaster relief. We will focus initially in these areas and expand to other districts as needed.
TNF, through its Chennai office staff, District Project Coordinators and the school communities (parents, teachers and staff), will implement a targeted and coordinated relief effort to insure that your donation directly reaches the needy and is wisely used. Our intent is to be focused and targeted in uplifting the real victims.
