Dear Ned and All,

I am testing a mediation model with two mediators, one DV and One IV, all latent variables. Using WarpPLS, I found the model have acceptable fit and the relationship between my IV and DV are significantly mediated by the two mediators. Can someone share a format on how to present the results using APA format?

Thank you.
Rachel

Dear Rachel,

I’ve attached a paper that fits with your requirements, that is to say, a mediation model with two mediators, one DV and One IV, all latent variables. I’ve used SmartPLS and we have adapted the Preacher and Hayes’ (2008) approach to the PLS context.

Picón, A., Castro, I. & Roldán, J.L., 2014. The relationship between satisfaction and loyalty: A mediator analysis. Journal of Business Research, 67(5), pp.746–751.

I’ve also another paper but with a three-path mediation model:

Castro, I. & Roldán, J.L., 2013. A mediation model between dimensions of social capital. International Business Review, 22(6), pp.1034–1050.

I hope these papers can be useful for you,

Best regards,

José L. Roldán

Hi Rachel.

WarpPLS’ outputs of indirect effects simplify mediating effects tests significantly when compared with other approaches – notably Preacher & Hayes and Baron & Kenny. I hope that the materials linked below can be of use in connection with this.

User Manual (link to specific page):

Kock, N. (2014). Advanced mediating effects tests, multi-group analyses, and measurement model assessments in PLS-based SEM. International Journal of e-Collaboration, 10(3), 1-13.

Kock, N., & Gaskins, L. (2014). The mediating role of voice and accountability in the relationship between Internet diffusion and government corruption in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Information Technology for Development, 20(1), 23-43.

The Kock & Gaskins article shows how the indirect effects approach used in WarpPLS provides more complete results.

Dear Rachel

Besides José's excellent recommendations, I like to share my experiences. Sometimes reviewers can be very nasty when it comes to mediators. Some like to see hypotheses, others not. When it comes to the empirical analysis, I once had a situation that we wrote only half a page about the double-mediator results. However, the reviewers wanted more and more detailed information. In the end, we presented things in a "build-up approach" for two mediators (which included a mediated mediation) on several pages...
