Suddenly No Output From Plover (4.0.3)

Suddenly Plover has stopped working.

That is to say, when I start Plover and try to write anything, absolutely nothing happens, despite  the fact that it is showing as being up and running.

My Flash is working, but nothing I enter does anything.  No output on the paper tape either.

On the plus side, the copy of Plover on my iMac works, so that's something, but I mostly use the iMac to watch YouTube videos and the various TV shows I download.

Interestingly, just before it stopped working, I heard the sound of breaking glass, and saw a quick image of the Plover icon, but broken. 

MacOS version is High Sierra (10.16.6).

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a Terminal trick or two?
