Love the idea. Love, love, love.
After digging around... well, how can I put it? Where can one BEGIN to learn?
I plan to operate on a planck keyboard and use dvorak/plover. With a focus on Plover for the next 2 months at the least (seeing where the learning curve takes me). I'll also be operating on an ubuntu distro, with plans to steno youtube lectures & translating work for a local deaf business I work indirectly with.
I tried Stenokinght.com, with very little guidance I seem to have felt out where the "keys" are, yet some of these hand positions are exceedingly difficult. I imagine I am approaching this incorrectly.
I have yet to install fly, but I will post commentary and results as I move forward.
Dxvision.com seems to yield nothing, at least for my skill/understanding, which should be considered completely null.
web.mit.edu/~ezyang/Public/stenomatic.html is stuck at "loading dictionary" although this could be because I am still running in browser plugins that may interfere, as I have not yet installed plover software on my ubuntu partition.
ankisrs.net seems useful, once I can function at a base level with the keyboard.
I suppose the bigger is, is there any advice one can give to a beginning stenographer? I am actively training in dvorak in the meantime, but as the planck keyboard came with plover installed, I couldn't help but become curious. I'm looking to put in 2-3 months worth of plover time at the least, presuming I have an avenue of consistent exercise. All suggestions and direction are welcomed, I'd love to put in time and learn the craft.
I'll continue to browse and investigate. I'm almost certain this question has been posited, however I thought I'd put it out there considering the size of the current community. Love to hear personal stories of progress as well as ideation, speculation of the future, and more importantly, how to learn the skill of Plover!
