I am using Planck keyboard from OLKB, powered with QMK firmware.

What I tried to do today was assigning F13-F24 and numberpad keys on one of the layer, on alpha keys (or former place of alpha keys).
So even when Plover is on, Plover only hooks those seemingly useless keys, and pass-through all other keys present on normal keyboard.
AFAIK standard steno needs only 23 scancodes, which are already outnumbered by F13-F24 and numpad keys.

I though in this way one do not have to turn Plover on and off frequently to type in some not-Plover-friendly keys, because Plover only use already unused keys.

But Plover keyboard settings does not have option for those keys.
I would really like the feature, since I have to type Hangul(Korean) much more than English, so turning Plover on and off turned out to be tiresome.
Or, soon I will get another keyboard dedicated for Plover, then I will be able to freely use two keyboard alternatively, or even simultaneously!

I don't know how much work it would take to get Plover to recognize F13-F24 keypresses, and it doesn't seem to have a high priority on the todo list for those who know. But how are you turning Plover on and off? What I do is press PHROLG which is short for "Plover toggle". If you use that chord often enough, it should quickly seem natural. If you hit that chord while Plover is on, it turns off, and if you use it press it while Plover's paused, it should turn back on. Hopefully that's good enough.

While support for the extended keycodes could be added, if your goal is to keep plover running, the QMK has serial-steno support and I would strongly recommend that. You should be able to find what you need by looking for "serial steno" in QMK's codebase.

Thank you all for the replies.

I think I looked over that part of the QMK too hastly.
Although I managed to make F13 (BTW its scancode was 100) work, surely using serial support would be much better!
