Chris Fastie just posted a great update from this past weekend's SNOWFEST: an evolved version of the 3d printed laser oil sampling attachment:

And RTegelbeckers posted a fully 3d-printed replacement enclosure for the Desktop Spectrometry Kit on Instructables:

I commented, asking him to open source the design on PublicLab.org.

Very cool.

but that one has to be a physical barnstar made of printed plastic :-P

that makes it more complicated ;)

"virtual 3D barnstar"  for Jeff, Chris, RTegelbeckers and our riffle-designer ;)
and
"physical 3D barnstar" for 3d printing quality for Chris

I suggest also an extra barnstar for Chris
if he comes to the pirateship to get that printer in shape
lets call that maybe
"meta 3D barnstar" for kinda 3D of 3D barnstar :P

because the x3g file he was able to print is totally different then mine ...

by the way Chris wonder if my x3g files work out of the box on your printer?

Dogi,

I recognize that footprint.
Is that PLA? Is that PLA that did not stick to Kapton? Is the nozzle close enough to the build plate?

I just printed that x3g file in PLA and it came out well. I had to shave a little off the side clips to fit it in the spectrometer. And the unsupported ceilings are noodley. But not bad.

yes

had right now the best experience using "rafts"
but I think I should just converge to your blue tape method ...

Is the nozzle close enough to the build plate?

think so ;)

think the bigger problem is speed
... with my actual setup I should just print slower ...

I know ...
/me envy ;)

Still wonder if you can print some of mine x3g files ;)
-> just to understand if we should/can exchange x3g files to amplify our "factory capacities" ;)

That's a good idea. I will see how my printer likes your x3g files.

Dogi,
My printer does not like your card holder x3g files because my left extruder is disabled and your files send commands to the left extruder. The bot gives an error and then sulks, so I can't learn anything else.

The cuvette holder that Jeff designed at SNOWFEST got liked on Thingiverse by none other than Bre

Hi Chris - you should probably put a link to the CERN Open Hardware License on the description, to keep it open source. Just noticed it was CC-BY-SA only.

I added the CERN license, but it doesn't seem to allow deselecting all other licenses. So there are two licenses, which is confusing. Which other license goes best with CERN?

It doesn't really matter. You don't have permission (because of the original CERN license) to license it any other way, so the other one you specify is kind of immaterial. But CC-BY-SA is a somewhat *equivalent* license for content, so that's probably the best one to leave there.
