Subject: Mississippi River Plastic Pollution Initiative - Report Data Summary
Dear Partners and Supporting Organizations,
On behalf of the Mississippi River Plastic Pollution Initiative, I am glad to send you the preliminary findings from the pilot phase of the initiative.
While the full report is under review, the attached fact sheets provide a summary of findings for each of the pilot regions. The data from the fact sheets were generated through a citizen-science approach in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; St. Louis, Missouri; and St. Paul, Minnesota, to understand the state of plastic litter in these river cities.
The pilot cities were successful in collecting enough data to provide an initial snapshot of the plastic litter in the city.
We would like to invite you to participate in a dialogue on July 1, 2021, at noon CST via Zoom (an invite will be sent separately). In this meeting we would like to present to you preliminary findings, as well as gathering your feedback on potential opportunities for action and intervention, that will be taken into consideration to finalize the report.
As this is an overarching and interconnected initiative, all three cities are invited to take part in this dialogue.
With your support, we look forward to using these findings as a resource to spark discussions and dialog in the cities, and between stakeholders, to further determine how best to address plastic pollution to protect communities, the Mississippi River, and the global ocean beyond.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Wendt LEED Green Associate
